College Bound?
Studies show that only 15% of college freshmen find or
connect with a Catholic Campus ministry or nearby parish
during their hectic adjustment to college life! College
Connection for Catholics, administered by the Serra Club,
provides a jump start with college Mass participation and
increases the chances that the first organization our
freshmen join is a Catholic one! Simply
provide the Serra Club with the student’s contact
information and the college they will attend, and we do the
rest! A nationwide database of Catholic campus ministries or
nearby parishes allows the Serra Club to communicate this
information to the respective campus ministry or parish so
that the student will be invited to participate immediately
upon arriving!
Note: Area Catholic HS students are already enrolled, so
only public HS students need enroll now!
Reply to Ted Rosentreter at
trosentreter@gmail.com. Supply
student’s name, home address, phone, college and location.
This information is only shared with Catholic campus
ministry/nearby parish.

MOTHERS AND SONS
As boys move into puberty, they change quickly and profoundly
due to flooding of hormones. These change forever how he feels
about himself and his relationships with others. Mothers who are
dependent on their boys for affection, support or love, believe
they are exempt from the changes taking place in their sons.
They are not. The love, companionship and closeness that
formerly comforted both of them is now very different (and
normal). He now sees his mom as trying to control him and as
being prying and invasive. What brings him peace is not her
love, but distance from her. He will obtain that distance any
way he can. That includes verbalizing the desire to go live with
a long despised and distant father, failing in school, outbursts
of rage, drug use, and so on.
If mom keeps her priorities healthy: (1. God, 2. Self, 3. Spouse
and 4. Children), her son sees a healthy role model for future
relationships with women. He sees that mom has found an
appropriate object for her love away from him and he is
encouraged to begin the other mind boggling event known as
dating. If mom’s marriage to dad is healthy, it will allow her
more gratification while at the same time lifting the burden of
guilt from her son who worries that mom cannot survive without
him. Source:

Prince of Peace Job Club, St. Joseph Career Transitions
Group
Thank you to all who are returning the blue cards that were
distributed at last week’s Masses. Your support makes a huge
difference in the quality of support we provide to those who
attend the job club. Completed cards can be returned to the
Parish Office, or dropped in the offertory basket at Masses.
Parishioners can support this ministry by:
- Offering to network or do "information interviews" on
your job function, industry, or company.
- Alerting our group to internal postings of jobs in your
organization or company.
- Participating in our coaching program of mentoring,
resume writing, networking and interviewing skill support.
- Praying daily for those in time of transition.
The St. Joseph Career Transitions Group meets weekly on
Wednesday mornings in the St. Luke/Mark Meeting Room from
7:00—8:30 am. This is a wonderful opportunity for spiritual
enrichment and practical support during this time of transition.
For more information, or to offer your support, please call Fred Fosnacht, at 913-897-6936 or e-mail
jobs@mycatholicvoice.com.
Share your Time and Talent Gifts

and complete the
Ministry Sign-up sheet and
return it to the Parish Office. If you have any questions or
need additional information, please give us a call, at

We all have a responsibility to give back our time and talent to
build up the Lord’s Kingdom here at Prince of Peace Parish. As
we practice Christian stewardship, we find that we grow
spiritually and that our faith is deepened.
