Sacraments

St. Augustine said a Sacrament "is a visible sign of invisible grace." The Sacraments are opportunities for people to gather and celebrate God's grace through symbolic action or ritual.  We look forward to sharing these celebrations with you.

Sacraments of Initiation:

BAPTISM: The Sacrament of Baptism incorporates us into the Church and gives us a rebirth as daughters and sons of God. Parent(s) must be registered members of the parish.  Before the Baptism of the first child, parent(s) must attend a Baptism Preparation Class held the first Sunday of the month at 2:30 pm in the Daily Mass Chapel. Two weeks notice is required to schedule a Baptism. Please call the Parish Office, at
782-8864.

CONFIRMATION: In our diocese, Confirmation normally takes place in the spring of the 8th grade year. At Prince of Peace, we have a two year Confirmation Preparation Program that may begin with the student's 7th or 8th grade year. For those starting in the 8th grade, they will receive the sacrament in the 9th grade. Candidates prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation by attending weekly classes, a retreat and by completing required service hours over the two year period. A one year program is also available for high school students that need to be confirmed.

EUCHARIST:  The Sacrament of Eucharist is the preeminent sacrament from which all others have meaning.  In the Eucharist Christ is most profoundly present in the Church, which gathers to hear the Word of God and to share the nourishment of Christ's Body with one another. School of Religion students celebrate First Eucharist in the 2nd grade. Please contact the SOR Office, at 829-1147.

Sacraments of Healing:

RECONCILIATION: Focuses on forgiveness in our life and on our acceptance of that forgiveness, which brings us back to spiritual health in the family of God after we have turned away. Reconciliation is Saturday from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm , or by appointment. Communal Penance Services as announced. School of Religion students celebrate First Reconciliation in the 2nd grade. Please contact the SOR Office, at 829-1147.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK:  Takes place as the community gathers in faith to pray over and lay hands on those who are sick, because the Church, like Christ, desires the health of the whole human person. Please make arrangements with the Parish Office.

Sacraments of Vocation:

MATRIMONY: Celebrates and witnesses the covenant of love between two people and symbolizes in that union Christ's covenant of love for the Church. Arrangements must be made 6 months in advance to complete the necessary paperwork/requirements. For an appointment, call the Parish Office, at 782-8864.

HOLY ORDERS:  Is a sacrament of service by which some are called by God, through the Church, to be spiritual leaders. Contact Fr. Mitchel Zimmerman, Vocation Director at 647-0303 or email vocation@archkck.org. For Archdiocesan Vocation information click here.
